A world of attitudes

Attitude always means something!
In a general sense we have three levels of attitudes, Which ones?
The creative attitude, the destructive attitude and the sustenance attitude.
We may use them in a good way or in a bad way.

Good ways

Creation
We may create ideas, newness, action plans. We may open channels for creation in several grounds, like: artistic, scientific, sportive, historic, and others.

Sustenance
We may sustain processes, positive creeds, dreams, high purposes, strategic plans, working plans, good conditions, open spaces, nature, power to listen and so many other positive approaches.

Destruction
Several times in our lives we are supposed to destroy.
Old patterns which are preventing us from moving ahead, or “weeds” that we are keeping alive in the garden of our minds like hatred, anger and other feelings that lead us downwards. How many times we must abandon low levels of thinking, or low feelings that insist in coming up in key moments of our lives. Or finishing conflicts or closing the gates for hopelessness and so many other things which bring people down.
To destroy - in the good way is an art.
It is one that maybe requires more skills than creating.

Bad ways

There are some bad ways of dealing with our attitudes.

Creation

We may create bad habits, bad conditions, bad thoughts, bad behavior, bad relations, bad ways of doing things, bad postures and so on.

Sustenance

It is not that difficult to sustain some weaknesses, to strengthen bad habits which take us away from our dreams, or keeping bad thoughts coming up in our minds. To keep bad mood or poor communication, low level emotions such as anger or hate rooted in habits we main sustain. Fear and aggressiveness are very easy to be sustained in the world nowadays.
There are industries based on them. Many people make money trough the sustenance of fear, violence, and other poor aspects of the human expression.

Destruction
We may use this tool to destroy good things.
In the same way a knife is useful to cut a slice of bread, or a fruit, it may be used to kill, or to threaten.
How many times we observe dreams being destroyed by one’s vision or opinion?
Yours or others’ dreams are in danger! Are they? Why?
Hopes, beauty or harmony may be easily destroyed in a world of fragile values and wisdom.
Links for improvements, like bridges, may be built or destroyed, it depends on the values behind the attitudes.
Peaceful environments may be destroyed by bad thoughts. Trust may be vanished away by suspicious attitudes.
Selfish interests may destroy the collective agreement.

Considerations
We do have the tools to create, to destroy and to sustain, the key point is: either we learn how to use them properly, how to manage them remembering that we are part of the whole, or we may miss our way, collectively.
The role of the organizations in this “training” aiming the best for our collective future is vital.
These abilities are inside each person, if the org. doesn’t allow them to express those abilities in a good way, they will express them in a bad way.
It is one way or another. There is no option of not using them.
Through feelings, thoughts and obscure attitudes the worse attitudes may spread easily inside any org.

Time to create

The idea for having a time to create is an idea to present options to all people to develop their best. That includes all the personnel, employees, managers and in some cases, partners, stakeholders and providers. Of course ways must be generated for each case.
The idea of “Time to create” should be filled by some options for the personnel.

Moving Room

A place for dancing, moving, expressing feelings through the body’s expression.
It’s important not to establish any pattern of dance or standard exercises. The idea is to create by yourself, whatever may it be.

Sound’s room

A place in which people could express sounds, from breathing, smiling, laughs, whatever.
Even musical abilities could have a space to be expressed.

Harmony room
A place for meditation in silence or hearing their own CD player, or if there is a consensus a background music inspiring meditation.
Cushions, sofas and carpet could be available for sitting as each one chooses. Some nice pictures and warming environment with soft illumination may be provided.

Handy room

A place for painting, drawing or writing could be available.

Other ideas may be applied by each org or department.

Converging

After going to one of the options chosen, there could be a convergence space, maybe in the same room where they gathered together.
In few minutes, as the convergence point of that experience, a reflection period could be taken, where each one could think about his own experience and what “newness” he perceived. If any, why he thought that happened. If there was any, what is his feeling about?
If some people want to share their experience – ok, if some don’t there is no problem. The important thing is to practice that, trying to perceive newness. Trying to bring up the ability to create.
One common rule; no wrong, no right, no comparisons. If a personal discovery or a curious observation, it does not matter. If for the self or for the team or for the family or even for the organization as a whole, there is not the stage for evaluating or formal presentations. It is just an experimental space - focusing in creating newness and developing the ability to create.

From the company’s standpoint, this period must be seen as an investment in their own personnel. Their fruits won’t be measurable.
Schedule, periods and frequency is something to be worked out by each department or organization.
As well as if each department shall have a facilitator or not. (If so, it should be interesting that they were people who already work in the organization). There is no instruction or model to create the new, so if some facilitator is required, he should be very aware of his part. Not judging or leading people according to his patterns.

Out of the box
The intellect and the mind need to be fed.
To create is directly linked to think differently, out of the box. Not following patterns.
“Time to create” is a suggestion. Besides that other ideas may come up and be applied by the whole organization or by some areas of it.
To create the “new” requires attempts. Some may succeed, others not. The process of “survival” of any attempt shall be seen as welcome. If any attempt does not “survive” there should be detachment. To re-think or to abandon old ways are part of this practice.

Key point

That is a way out for survival and it may bring fruits, which will take that org to be a leader creating reference to others.

Practical ideas

To think is a question of training. To think is a question of learning and observing.
Some ideas may be helpful to bring some different perspectives to be experimented by the personnel.
- Lectures by New Thinkers approaching a different subject each time. That is a simple way of feeding the intellects and minds with different references and views.
- Small talks just for some departments are also helpful.
Living experiences as going out, picnics, sightseeing, traveling or practicing sports together are helpful in several different ways.
- Talks with sportsmen and women approaching their own practices and how they lead their training, concentration focus. Discipline and stages they go through are extremely motivational.
- Eastern perspectives are very interesting and rich. They may add several ingredients for helping in the way for creating newness.
- Historians and brief talks about different ages, times, customs and transition times between the historic processes are also inspiring.
- Speeches by handicapper’s coaches approaching their ways of overtaking the obstacles through sports are very impacting.
