Who does better in the water: the surface swimmer or the diver?
He who stays on the surface sees but little of the secrets, treasures and beauties which reside in the deep.
He who stays in the deep sees but little of the sun, the changes of the exterior scenery and experiences little of the breeze which blows on the surface.
The secret lies not in the answer, but in the question.
Both can do well and be very happy with their specialities: the mistake is to want to know what is best.
Is there such a thing as the best?
Yes: but the best for each one.
The mistake is to want to compare and compete.
Each one has his own speciality: if there is respect and admiration, both will be well. If there is dispute, there will never be a winner: both will always lose.
Many lose the sense of their own specialities and, giving origin to comparisons, they stay in little worlds created by themselves, losing the sense of greatness of their lives and tending never to arrive anywhere.
Even being very good in some aspects, they do not enjoy them as gifts received each day, simply due to comparing.
Considering something better, something else will be considered worse, and the sublime energy of the positive, of the beautiful, of wholeness, of satisfaction will be divided with another type of energy which is not positive.
In the world of reason, a division of positive by negative results in negative, whichever the values may be.
The comparison is like a division of this type: it will always result in a negative.
The best is in the soul, in intuition and in the intuitive act.
The best is within oneself, in the feeling of the one who sees, and not in “what” is seen, either on the surface or in the deepness.
